Safinaz Kazim
(1937- ), (صافيناز كاظم) Egyptian writer and journalist. She received a B.A. in journalism from Cairo University in 1959 and an M.A. in theater criticism from New York University in 1966. She is the assistant editor of al-Musawwar. She was awarded the 'Ali and Mustafa AminJournalism Prize in 1996. She considers all of her writings to be creative writing, even if the subject is literary criticism or politics.

Her non-fiction works include al-Khadi'a al-Nasiriya (The Nasserist Ruse, 1983), Masrah al-mnsrahiyin (Stage of Thespians, 1984), Yawmiyat Baghdnd, Lundun (Diaries of Baghdad, London, 1984), al-Haqiqa wa ghasil al-mukhkh ji qadaya mu'asira (The Truth and Brainwashing in Contemporary Issues, 1985), 'An al-sijn wa-I-hurriya (On Prison and Freedom, 1986), Risaliyat jiI- bayt al-nabawi (Essays on the House of the Prophet, 1987, trilogy), Milaff masrah al-sitinat (Theater in the 1960s, 1991), Fi mas'alat al-suJlt'" wa-I-hijab (On Veiling and Unveiling, 1995), al-Muqawama wa irhab al-jikr al-Sihyuni (Resistance and the Terrorism of Zionist Thought, 1996), and Min daftar al-mulahazat (From the Notebook of Observations, 1997).
