Salima Salih (سليمة صالح) is a novelist, short story writer, translator, and painter. She was born in Mosul in the North of Iraq, studied law at Baghdad University and painting and music at the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad, and later studied journalism at Leipzig University in Germany and earned a PhD in the global tendencies of the mass media.
She worked as a journalist in the Iraqi press and played an important role in defending the human rights of Iraqi women and their struggle for emancipation. Salima Salih has published 6 collections of short stories, a novel and a CD-ROM of poetry and collage. She has also translated 14 works of literature and culture from German into Arabic.
She left Iraq 1978 and since 1983 has lived in Berlin.
