Biography:

Sayza Nabrawi (1879-1985 :سيزا نبراوي) Egyptian journalist and a pioneer of the women's movement in egypt born in Qasr al-Minshawi in Cairo. She was adopted by her relative `Adila Nabrawi, and traveled with her to Paris where she attended French schools. Upon her return to Cairo, she enrolled in Les Dames de Sion School in Alexandria. She refused to live with her biological parents and chose to live with her maternal grandmother.

Huda Sha`rawi, a friend of her adopted mother took her under her wing. Nabrawi participataed in many international women's conferences. When she returned from the women's conference in Rome, she and Huda Sha`rawi publicly removed their face veils. She published the newspaper, L'Egyptienne, the organ of the Egyptian Women's Union, from 1925 to 1940 and wrote several articles on various social issues.
