Nura Amin (نورا أمين) was born in Cairo, Egypt, in 1970. She took a degree in French literature from Cairo University in 1992. She now works as a film, theater, and literary critic for the Hilal and the newspaper al-Ahali, and as a lecturer at the Academy of Arts.
Her first volume of short stories appeared in 1994, and she has since published two more volumes, a novel. and a critical study of modern Egyptian drama. She has translated several works from English and French into Arabic.
She was awarded the short-story prize from teh General Authority for Culture Palaces in 1996 for "Turuqat muhaddaba" and a prize for the best novel by writers under the age of forty from Andalusiya Foundation for Culture and Arts in 1999.
